Requirements

This is a MacOSX version only.
You need Quicktime 6.0 or later installed.
Quicktime effects can not be used as a stand-alone application, you need another video editing tool to be able to use them.

Installation

Launch ‘QuickTime Effects Installer’. Follow the installation process; select your root disk (the effects are installed in /Library/QuickTime).

Note, you must quit and restart all applications that are using QuickTime before you can see the new effects. If you have a previous version of this package already installed, before the installation, you should delete the previous version by launching "/Library/QuickTime/Uninstall QuickTime Effects 1.X"

To uninstall the effects, launch “/Library/QuickTime/Uninstall QuickTime Effects 1.4.1”

Effects List

This package contains 9 effects:

Motion Blur Effects

Mixer

Mixes the last N images together, giving the feeling of a motion blur. The number of images to be mixed can be configured (2, 4, 8, 16 or 32). This is a very simple motion blur algorithm ; it is thus very fast and can be used in real-time.

Motion Blur

Blurs the last images to increase the motion feeling. This is a very efficient algorithm that can be used in real-time

Aspect Ratio Conversion Effects

Conversion 4:3 – 16:9

Correct the aspect ratio of your movies such that you can play 16:9 movies in a 4:3 format (by scaling the movie and adding horizontal black borders) or play a 4:3 movie in a 16:9 format (by scaling the movie and adding vertical black borders).
4:3 and 16:9 are the most used video format. This effect has an easy to use interface to make quick conversion between these 2 formats.
If you want to convert other formats, use the next effect.

Conversion Aspect Ratio

Correct the aspect ratio of your movies such that you can play any format in any format (by scaling the movie and/or adding horizontal/vertical black borders).
This effect has a more advanced user interface where you can accurately enter the aspect ratio of your source and destination movie. You can also choose between two operation mode :

Miscellaneous Effects

Flip

Inverts your images vertically and/or horizontally

Fade

Fades in or out or both, from/to any color.

 

PayTV

Scrambles your images like some Pay TV does.
Each line is offset by a random number of pixels ; the maximum amplitude of the offset is configurable.

Isolate Color

Transforms your image into a black and white image except for one of the basic color (red - green - blue) that is not modified

Transition Effects

Dimmer

This transition fades down from one source to a user defined colour then fades up to the second source.
